HTTP is a 'heavy' protocol designed for web browsers; it requires significant overhead for headers and maintains verbose connections. MQTT is an incredibly lightweight, publish-subscribe messaging protocol. It requires minimal bandwidth, consumes very little battery power, and is specifically designed to handle intermittent, unreliable network connections—making it the gold standard for IoT.

IoT security must be implemented at every layer. We utilize hardware Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs) to securely store cryptographic keys on the device. At the transport layer, we enforce Mutual TLS (mTLS), ensuring the device and the cloud cryptographically verify each other before exchanging data. We also use strictly scoped policies to ensure a compromised device cannot access other devices' data.

Edge Computing involves processing data directly on the local IoT gateway (or device) rather than sending all raw data to the cloud. You should use it when you require ultra-low latency (e.g., stopping a robotic arm), when cloud bandwidth is expensive/unavailable (e.g., an offshore oil rig), or for privacy (e.g., running computer vision locally without streaming video to the cloud).

Yes. Industrial IoT (IIoT) often involves legacy PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) on the factory floor speaking older, proprietary protocols like Modbus or OPC UA. We design and deploy edge gateways (using AWS IoT Greengrass or EdgeX) that translate these legacy protocols into modern MQTT streams, securely bridging the gap between aging machinery and modern cloud analytics.

A Digital Twin is a precise, real-time virtual representation of a physical object or system. By continually streaming telemetry data (temperature, RPM, vibration) from a physical machine into its Digital Twin in the cloud (using Azure Digital Twins, for example), engineers can run simulations, predict failures, and optimize performance without touching the physical hardware.

We implement robust Over-The-Air (OTA) update pipelines. Instead of manually plugging cables into devices, we push encrypted, cryptographically signed firmware binaries through the cloud (e.g., AWS IoT Device Management). The device downloads the update in the background, verifies the signature to prevent tampering, and reboots into the new firmware seamlessly.

IoT systems generate massive amounts of time-stamped data (e.g., reading a temperature sensor every second). Traditional relational SQL databases collapse under the massive write-throughput of millions of rows per minute.
